Cirque du Soleil China uses MasterTug for a greater performance

The near silent, smooth running of a MasterMover electric tugger is enabling Cirque du Soleil to safely and efficiently move scenery across the stage in its new state-of-the-art theater in Hangzhou, China.

Cirque du Soleil is a Canadian entertainment company and the largest theatrical producer in the world. Their shows have been performed in over 40 countries and an audience reaching 90 million.
The new Chinese venue was created in August, with great attention to detail to bring a world-class creative and artistic permanence to audiences.

As part of the specification, a MasterTug MT2000+ has been selected for the theater, to move scenery and acrobatic equipment to and from the main stage during the performances and needed to be in a custom black paint shade to blend in with the background.

Renee Ooi of MasterMover, said: “The MT2000+ is the perfect choice to move scenery at the theater in different weights and sizes.

“Its black shade enables it to match the background of the set, while the electric battery ensures virtually no noise is heard as the movements are made during the performance.”

The MasterTug MT2000+ is designed to allow a single pedestrian operator to easily and safely push, pull and steer wheeled loads weighing up to a maximum of 44,000 lb.

Power comes from a rechargeable electric battery, which provides hours of use and features include a castor guard, which self-levels to prevent foot trap risks as the back of the tug raises under load.

An automatic braking system is another safety feature that stops the tug and load if the operator either releases the controls or the tiller arm returns to vertical.
