Patrick McLoughlin MP Visits Globally Successful Derbyshire Firm
Rt Hon Patrick McLoughlin, Secretary of State for Transport and MP for Derbyshire Dales, has visited MasterMover® to discover how the Derbyshire business’ investment in engineering excellence is helping it to export its renowned range of electric tugs globally.
During his visit, he toured the hi-tech factory, which manufactures electric tugs used to move heavy loads in manufacturing, retail and healthcare environments. The visit included a demonstration of an electric tug which, by using weight transfer to generate traction, enables a single pedestrian operator to manoeuvre multi-tonne loads with ease and control.
MasterMover® has helped to bring greater factory efficiency and safety to a range of blue-chip names, including JCB, Airbus and The Co-operative Group, while its thriving export business has seen the company supply its Ashbourne-manufactured machines from Brazil to Australia.
A key focus of Mr McLoughlin’s visit was to learn how MasterMover® has achieved this success and to discuss the company’s future expectations for sustained growth.
“We are delighted to have welcomed Mr McLoughlin as both our local MP and as Secretary of State for Transport,” explains Andy Owen, Managing Director of MasterMover®.
“We pride ourselves on our Ashbourne roots and the majority of our workforce lives in the Derbyshire Dales constituency. As a growing business, we were keen to discuss with Mr McLoughlin how we can create further job growth in the region.
“At the same time, with his interest in transport, Mr McLoughlin was fascinated to learn how our electric tugs are helping companies across Britain and beyond to get their goods onto the road in a safer and more effective way,” Andy Owen concludes.
