Job Role

Synchronise, facilitate and control the flow of materials and progression of build work whilst managing the supply chain to ensure cost, time and efficiency is fully optimised and accomplished

Key Tasks

  • Ensure compliance with project and production plans, oversee activities related to receiving and dispatching shipments such as confirming accuracy of orders, generate reports on work progress, completion dates, production challenges, stock levels and costs
  • Customer and project focussed, ensure all materials are available ready for build; source and secure the quality and timely delivery of goods and components
  • Follow the progress of an order with suppliers and initiate remedial action to allow production activities to stay on track
  • Collaborate with project team to prepare for project review meetings, identify delayed and potential problems with a view to maintaining schedules
  • Measure and control the reliability of suppliers concerning cost, quality, packing, conformity with standards and set timelines
  • Ensure cost efficiencies are achieved and where applicable that penalties are avoided as a result of time savings
  • Examine job cost reports for inconsistencies, such as mischarges
  • Experience

    Key Criteria

    • Technical aptitude, skilled in production planning and manufacturing processes
    • Engineering background including previously worked with metal-work components
    • Extensive purchasing experience
    • Key Experience

      • 10+ Years’ working in a similar role
      • Understand engineering practices and interpret manufacturing drawings
      • Member of the Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply (preferable)
      • Industries worked in; Automotive, Special Purpose Machine manufacture, or low volume Mechanical Engineering
      • Project based environment, handling multiple project work
      • Check and process order acknowledgements and addressing issues with suppliers
      • Can build solid relationships with various internal and external stakeholders
      • Close supplier management
      • Update and maintain files and records
      • Compliance with Company policies and procedures

    • Strong character with excellent interpersonal skills
    • Extremely organised with good time management, forward planner and ability to prioritise
    • Highly motivated team-player
    • Results orientated and works well to deadlines
    • Attention to detail and accurate data inputting
    • Resourceful with problem-solving, proactive and uses own initiative
    • Effective communicator, both oral and written
    • Bi-lingual, able to converse in a second language (preferable)
    • Microsoft Office incl Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Project
    • Material requirements planning and inventory control, and accounting systems
