MasterMover lightens the load for hospital porters

The journey of over quarter of a mile from oxygen store to operating theatre was tough. It involved two men manually pulling a trolley, weighing over 200kg, up a steep slope and into the main hospital campus. Theatre Portering Manager, Alistair Woodward, was looking for a simple and safe alternative that would securely hold and transport oxygen bottles of various sizes and minimise the physical strain placed on his portering staff. Following an initial site evaluation, the MasterMover design team set about designing a bespoke oxygen bottle trolley based on their industry proven 'MasterHandler' design. The MasterMover machine now enables porters to move 50-60 small cylinders or 2 large cylinders in a single journey. Following delivery, Alistair Woodward, Theatre Portering Manager, commented: -
"The company designed a machine for our needs, it is safer for the porters, no pushing or pulling and can fit in lifts and corridors. It enables one man to move more cylinders safely around our large campus"
